# UMTS - Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service In the [[3G - High-speed digital cellular telephony|3G]] standard, UMTS is the mobile cellular system for networks. Developed and maintained by [[3GPP - 3rd Generation Partnership Project]], it's a component of the [[ITU - International Telecommunication Union|ITU]] [[IMT-2000 - International Mobile Telecommunications-2000|IMT-2000]] standard set.
